North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NCA&T) seeks a dynamic leader for the position of Dean of the School of Education (SOE). Reporting to the Provost and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, the Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the School and will have responsibility for providing leadership in academic education, scholarship, fund development, and community engagement activities.  Building on its legacy of exemplary teaching and scholarship, as well as effective public service, the School of Education prepares a variety of educators and human services professionals and supports their continuing professional development.

 

This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented, outcomes-focused professional.  The ideal candidate will possess an earned Doctorate in education or related field, with eight to ten years of teaching and administrative experience in higher education, and at least five years of experience as a Department Chair and/or Dean. Preference will be given to candidates who possess: excellent communication and interpersonal skills; excellent budget management skills; successful fundraising experience; a strong record of effective organization and administration skills with demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member; a commitment to student learning and promoting a culture that values diversity. The Dean is expected to be a visionary leader, have a demonstrated ability to develop internal and external strategic partnerships, especially with K-12, and have a proven record of teaching, scholarship, service, and grant procurement.


An 1890 Land Grant University, North Carolina A&T State University enjoys a long-standing national reputation in learning, discovery, and engagement. The School of Education offers Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees through the following departments: Curriculum and Instruction, Human Development and Services, Human Performance and Leisure Studies, and Leadership Studies. The School of Education is Urban focused with the primary aim to recruit and prepare future educators and other professionals to effectively deal with issues of the urban community.
