Felician College, a rapidly growing, liberal arts Catholic College serving over 2,000 undergraduate

and graduate students at its Lodi and Rutherford campuses in northeastern New Jersey, invites

applications for the position of Dean of the Division of Teacher Education. Founded and

sponsored by the Felician Sisters, the College has maintained its historic Catholic/Franciscan

tradition since 1923, while establishing a broad-based liberal arts curriculum and a diverse

academic community. The Dean reports directly to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs.

The College is seeking an experienced and innovative academic leader who can facilitate the

Division of Teacher Education and advance its growth in academic programs, faculty development,

and personalized student-centered learning. Religious identity is important to the College, and it is

valuable that candidates for this position understand the Felician commitment to Catholicism.

The Division of Teacher Education includes graduate degrees in Education, Educational Leadership,

and School Nursing and Health Education. The Division also offers undergraduate degrees in

Education for Working Adults, School Nursing and Health Education, and a Teacher Certification

Program. The Division is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and the Teacher

Education Accreditation Council (TEAC). Felician offers programs of study in the Arts and Sciences,

Business and Management, Health Sciences, Nursing, and Teacher Education. Courses are offered

on campus, in a number of off-site corporate and educational settings, and online in the evenings

and on weekends, as well as in accelerated formats to serve a large nontraditional student

population. The ideal candidate for this position, therefore, must be a leader in traditional and

nontraditional curriculum delivery methods and be committed to providing programs of equivalent

excellence in multiple formats. For more information about Felician College, please explore

Qualifications: The Dean will have an earned doctorate from an accredited institution, wellrounded

experience in various educational settings, and will possess strong leadership skills that

support the pursuit of academic excellence. Significant administrative experience in curriculum

development, budgetary accountability, outcomes assessment, and accreditation processes are

preferred qualities for the Dean. The ability to work collaboratively, promote the mission of a

Catholic education, and demonstrate the commitment to work effectively within an ethnically and

culturally diverse population is essential. Direct experience in educating teachers, knowledge of

teacher licensure processes and requirements, and leadership experience in a K-12 setting is

preferred.
