Felician College, a rapidly
growing, liberal arts Catholic College serving over 2,000 undergraduate
and graduate students at its Lodi and Rutherford campuses in
northeastern New Jersey, invites
applications for the position of Dean of the Division of Teacher
Education. Founded and
sponsored by the Felician Sisters, the
College has maintained its historic Catholic/Franciscan
tradition since 1923, while establishing a broad-based liberal arts
curriculum and a diverse
academic community. The Dean reports directly to the Provost/Vice
President for Academic Affairs.
The College is seeking an experienced and innovative
academic leader who can facilitate the
Division of Teacher Education and advance its growth in
academic programs, faculty development,
and personalized student-centered learning. Religious identity
is important to the College, and it is
valuable that candidates for this position understand the Felician commitment to Catholicism.
The Division of Teacher Education includes graduate degrees
in Education, Educational Leadership,
and School Nursing and Health Education. The Division also
offers undergraduate degrees in
Education for Working Adults, School Nursing and Health
Education, and a Teacher Certification
Program. The Division is accredited by the Middle States Association
of Colleges and the Teacher
Education Accreditation Council
(TEAC). Felician
offers programs of study in the Arts and Sciences,
Business and Management, Health
Sciences, Nursing, and Teacher Education.
Courses are offered
on campus, in a number of off-site corporate and educational
settings, and online in the evenings
and on weekends, as well as in accelerated formats to serve a
large nontraditional student
population. The ideal candidate for this position, therefore, must be
a leader in traditional and
nontraditional curriculum delivery methods and be committed to providing
programs of equivalent

Qualifications:
The Dean will have an earned doctorate from an accredited institution, wellrounded
experience in various educational settings, and will possess strong
leadership skills that
support the pursuit of academic excellence. Significant
administrative experience in curriculum
development, budgetary accountability, outcomes assessment, and
accreditation processes are
preferred qualities for the Dean. The ability to work
collaboratively, promote the mission of a
Catholic education, and demonstrate the commitment to work
effectively within an ethnically and
culturally diverse population is essential. Direct experience in
educating teachers, knowledge of
teacher licensure processes and requirements, and leadership
experience in a K-12 setting is
preferred.
