Special Opportunity:  ATE Clinical Practice Fellows
Deadline to apply to be a Clinical Practice Fellow has been extended to July 1, 2017.
Are you interested in clinical practice?

Come be a part of a community of educators who are interested in solving real issues and challenges related to developing school-university partnerships and integrating clinical practice as part of educator preparation programs. Apply to become an ATE Clinical Practice Fellow at the 2018 ATE Annual Meeting!

What are Clinical Practice Fellows?

ATE Clinical Practice Fellows are a group of teacher educators who have a strong research interest in clinical practice. Clinical Practice Fellows and Clinical Practice Partners (school-based teacher educators such as mentor teachers, PDS principals, and coaches) are selected through a competitive application process.

What do Clinical Practice Fellows do?

Clinical Practice Fellows attend a national pre-conference symposium at ATE all day Saturday, February 17th, 2018, before the opening keynote, and ending by noon on Sunday, February 18th, 2018. During the Clinical Practice Fellows symposium, Fellows and their Partners network with one another, share research interests, and hear from some of the top scholars in clinical practice as they engage in a national dialogue about “turning teacher education upside down” and putting clinical practice at the center of all teacher education endeavors!

What is the theme of 2018 Clinical Practice Fellows?

This year’s Clinical Fellows Symposium theme, Delving into Dilemmas and Developing Direction for Clinically-Based Teacher Education Programs, will be action-oriented and discussion-based, designed to bring teams together to work on a challenge they are facing in their context. Participants will also have the opportunity to network with fellows who share similar challenges. Together we will generate ideas, brainstorm advocacy opportunities, and develop action plans.

Who should apply?

We invite teacher educators in all stages of their careers to participate. We especially encourage doctoral students and early career faculty members to apply. We strongly encourage all Clinical Fellows to bring a school-based teacher educator (mentor teacher, PDS principal, coach, etc.) to the conference to serve as a “thought-partner” throughout the symposium and conference activities. You are encouraged to explore funding for a Clinical Practice Partner through your institution’s deans office. Past fellows are also encouraged to participate.

How to apply?

The application process is competitive, but simple.  Click on the link below to apply. Your application will be reviewed along with proposals for the conference and you will be notified in early Fall of your acceptance.

The deadline for applying has been extended to July 1, 2017
