Summer 2006 Guest Editorship Sought Applications are being sought for the Summer 2006 editorship of Action in Teacher Education (ACTION). ACTION is published quarterly by the Association of Teacher Educators and serves as a forum for information exchange related to the improvement of teacher education at all levels. Articles focus on concepts, practices, and research that have implications and applicability for practitioners.
The guest editor(s) will identify a theme pertinent to teacher education and the ATE membership and will work with the Professional Journal Committee to solicit, select, and edit scholarly papers addressing this topic. Recognized scholars in teacher education are sought who are interested in promoting high-quality scholarship within the journal, who possess strong managerial and organizational skills, and who are able to make the Summer Issue 2006 a priority.

Deadline The deadline for submission of complete applications is January 15, 2005. Finalists will be asked to attend a meeting of the Professional Journal Committee at the annual ATE conference in Chicago, Illinois (February 13-16, 2005).
ACTION Editorship Application I. Summer Issue Theme: Provide a theme for the Summer Issue 2006 and a rationale for its selection, based on trends in teacher education and ATE membership.
II. Editor Qualities: Respond to the criteria listed below by providing personal examples and evidence to support your qualifications as editor.
1. Editing experience. 2. Record of success in scholarly publication. 3. Broad and deep understanding of the theme suggested. 4. Organizational and managerial skills. 5. Commitment to professional objectivity. 6. Time, resources, and opportunity to make editing a high priority.
III. Current Vitae: Include a current vitae highlighting professional accomplishments.
IV. Institutional Support: Include a statement of institutional support from a dean or higher level administrator that outlines institutional support for such elements as release time, secretarial time, graduate assistant, postage, and so forth.
