Publications: Submitting Journal Entries
Action in Teacher Education is published as a service to members of the Association of Teacher Educators and others concerned with teacher education. It serves as a forum for the exchange of information and ideas related to the improvement of teacher education at all levels. Articles focus upon concepts, practices, and research which have implications and applicability for practitioners involved with teacher education.
Action in Teacher Education is an official publication of the Association of Teacher Educators. Manuscripts are subject to review by members of the Professional Journal Committee and editorial consultants. Points of view and opinions are those of individual authors and are not necessarily those of the Association. Published manuscripts are the property of the Association. Permission to reproduce articles must be requested from the editors.
The journal is thematic and refereed. Issues contain articles and special sections that review relevant research and summarize dialogue between university and K-12 teacher educators. Each issue has a designated theme, and may or may not contain nonthematic articles. Authors should submit a short biographical statement. References must be complete and placed at the end of articles. American Psychological Association (APA) style is required. (See more complete manuscript submission guidelines for further informat.) Manuscript Guidelines, Submission Requirements, and Editorial Procedures
Content
Most journal issues will have thematic and nonthematic sections. The journal provides a forum for the exchange of information and ideas concerning the improvement of teacher education. Manuscripts submitted should reflect this purpose. Manuscripts should concern concepts, practices, or research studies that have implications and applicability for practitioners involved with teacher education.
Preparation for Review
Manuscripts, including all references, charts, figures, and tables, generally should not exceed 20 pages. All submissions must be prepared using a computer word processing program. Manuscripts must adhere strictly to guidelines set in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, fifth edition, 2001. Double space all text including quotations and references, and provide 1.5-inch margins all around. References must be complete and placed at the end of the manuscript. Please place tables, charts, figures, appendices or illustrations after the references on separate pages.
Authors should not cite or reference their own name but instead use the word "author" followed by the publication date. Alphabetize references to "author" under "A" and not under the letter of the author’s last name. Do not include titles or the names of coauthors in the "author" citations or references.
Submission of a Manuscript
Submissions for Fall, Winter, and Spring issues should be directed to Action in Teacher Education, The University of Oklahoma, 820 Van Vleet Oval ECH 114, Norman, Oklahoma 73019. Guest editors vary for each summer issue. Consult the ATE website for information about themes or about where to send submissions for summer issues.
