Workshops at the 2008 Annual Meeting
The following workshops will be offered on Saturday, February 23, 2008. Workshop 1 is full day, Workshops 2 and 3 are morning workshops, and Workshops 4 and 5 are afternoon. Register for these workshops on the ATE Registration Form using numbers indicated.

1. Asessment and Accountability in the NCATE System Presenters Margie Crutchfield, National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. (9:00-4:00) Description: Participants will learn techniques for integrating assessment and accountability that will meet the needs of institutions seeking NCATE Accreditation.
2. TEAC Program Review Workshop Presenter: Sue Fuhrmann and Diana Rigden, TEAC (9:00-12:00) Description: The TEAC orientation session will review TEAC's quality principles, standards of capacity, and accreditation process. It will include a discussion of an Inquiry Brief, the self-study document a program submits for accreditation. Questions are encouraged to guide discussion.
3. Examine the World of Digital Cameras and Digital Images: Say Goodbye to Film and Film Processing Presenter: David A. McCarthy, U. of Minnesota Duluth (9:00-12:00) Description: Explore a hands-on experience showcasing how digital cameras can be used to enhance teaching and learning. Participants will explore a variety of applications including iron-on, calendars, PowerPoint books, seating charts, photo slide shows, incorporation into MS Word and PowerPoint. Purchase considerations will be discussed also. Cameras will be provided. Beginners or Advanced. 4. DiscoveryTime: What’s New in Educational Technology Preenters: David A. McCarthy, U of Minnesota Duluth, Kathryn Smith, Bemidji State University, (1:00-4:00) Description: Participants will explore a variety of new technologies which have great opportunities for educators. We will explore podcasting, furling, wikis, blogging, skype, video-conferencing, new browsers/new features, rubistar and others. Beginners or Advanced
5. The Art of Facilitating Classroom Dialogues about Social Justice Presenters: Thomas A. Lucey, Illinois State University and James D. Laney, North Texas State University (1:00-4:00) Description: The session will use art processes (i.e., music, visual art, drama, dance, language arts) to facilitate higher-level thinking activities begin classroom conversations about social justice topics. While experiencing these processes, participants synthesize their relevancy to social justice situations and consider their classroom adaptability.
