Five Workshops in Washington
2008 Summer Conference attendees have the chance to attend five special workshops on Saturday, August 2, before the Summer Conference itself starts. (Note: You do not have to register for the Summer Conference to attend a Saturday Workshop.)

All Day Workshop, "Assessment and Accountability in the NCATE System"
Workshop led by Margie Crutchfield, NCATE August 2, 2008 • 9 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
This workshop provides techniques for integrating assessment and accountability. Participants will learn techniques that will meet the needs of institutions seeking NCATE Accreditation.
Morning Workshop, "PowerPoint A-Z"
Workshop led by Dr. David A. McCarthy Professor, University of Minnesota Duluth August 2, 2008 • 9 a.m. – 12:00 Noon
PowerPoint, typically a presentation tool for speeches and lectures has numerous overlooked, creative, non-traditional uses. Participants will observe the hidden powers of Microsoft PowerPoint and view a variety of presentations to include Jeopardy games, the Millionaire game, virtual field trips, cross-curricular keyboarding activities, training modules, and presentations for students from age Kindergarten and up. Beginner or Advanced.
Afternoon Workshop, "Explore Technology Concepts and Skills for the 21st Century Educator"
Workshop led by Dr. David A. McCarthy Professor, University of Minnesota Duluth, and Dr. Kathryn A. Smith Professor, Minnesota State University Bemidji August 2, 2008 • 1 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Participants will explore a series of “new” topics in education computing which will include furling and del.icio.us, wikis and blogging, googledocs, rubistar, podcasting, video-conferencing (skype and iChat), rubistar for creating rubrics, Nettrekker (a filtered web-based search tool) and Microsoft Office 2008 for the Macintosh. Afternoon Workshop, "(TEAC) Program Review Workshop"
Workshop led by Rebecca Pelton, Vice President for Membership and Melanie Biermann, Vice President for State Relations, TEAC August 2, 2008 • 1 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The TEAC orientation session will review TEAC's quality principles, standards of capacity, and accreditation process. It will include a discussion of an Inquiry Brief, the self-study document a program submits for accreditation. Questions are encouraged to guide discussion.
