2023 Election Nominations Sought

Association of Teacher Educators Application for Elected Office

The following positions are open for the upcoming election, which will be held in Spring 2023:

Second Vice President to take office following the certification of the 2023 election; as First Vice President following the 2024 Annual Meeting in Anaheim, California;  and as President at the end of the March 2025 Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

College / University Representative to take office at the end of the Spring 2024 Annual Meeting in Anaheim, California and serve through 2027.

School-Based Representative to take office at the end of the Spring 2024 Annual Meeting in Anaheim, CA and serve through 2027.

Applications will be considered at the Spring 2023 Annual Meeting when the Nominations and Elections Committee will present a proposed ballot to the Delegate Assembly for final approval.

Qualifications:

A Second Vice President nominee must be a current active member who has held a Regular, Life, Retired, or Distinguished membership for three consecutive years and who is or has been a member of the Board of Directors, Delegate Assembly, or on a national committee or commission.

The College / University Representative nominee must be a current active member who has held a Regular, Life, Retired, or Distinguished membership for three consecutive years and who has served or is serving in the Delegate Assembly, or served on a national standing committee, commission or task force.  Applicants for this position should be college or university personnel working directly in educator preparation at the time of the election.

A School-Based Representative nominee must be a current active member who has held a Regular, Life, Retired, or Distinguished membership for three consecutive years and who has served or is serving in the Delegate Assembly, or served on a national standing committee, commission or task force. Applicants for this position should be public or private school personnel (prek-12) at the time of the election.

Guidelines:

There will be no campaigning pursuant to action of the Delegate Assembly. All candidates are expected to demonstrate active membership in ATE and to represent its ideals, purposes, and goals.

Anyone applying for nomination to elected office of the Association of Teacher Educators must submit the online or hard copy application as an MSWord document including the biographical sketch and statement, as well as the endorsements and photo by Wednesday, January 11, 2023 via email to:

Official letters of endorsement must contain original signatures and be on letterhead. Letters may be sent in PDF format directly from the letter-writer to ATE's Executive Director, Alisa Chapman.

Checklist for Completion of Application Packet | Deadline is January 11, 2023

___ One copy of the Nominee’s Information Form


___ One copy of a statement of NO MORE THAN 200 words giving the applicant’s position on significant issues confronting the Association. (This will be part of the nominee’s information for the ATE Newsletter and ballot)

 

___ One biographical sketch of NO MORE THAN 100 words that recounts four or five significant accomplishments in teacher education. (This will be part of the nominee’s information for the ATE Newsletter and ballot)


___ One clear photograph that includes the nominee's head and shoulders in the frame. Please make sure the photograph's quality is of high-resolution and saved in JPG, PNG, or JPEG format for the ATE Newsletter and ballot.


___ Three signed endorsements on letterhead must be e-mailed to Alisa Chapman, ATE Executive Director directly from the person providing the letter and the document should be in PDF format.


___ Arrange to attend the 2023 ATE Annual Meeting in Jacksonville, Florida.


___ Confirm interview time with Nominations and Elections Committee Chairperson.


Interview:

All eligible candidates will be interviewed in the January - February timeframe.
