ATE Faculty Fellowship |
PurposeThe ATE Faculty Fellowship is an opportunity for an experienced leader in teacher education to become involved in strategic initiatives that further ATE’s mission and promote systems change within the organization. This immersive experience supports national-level leadership development and contributes to the design and long-term sustainability for the program. The fellowship program was first initiated as a pilot in summer 2025. The program is designed as a partnership between the faculty fellow, their institution, and ATE.

Meet ATE's Current Faculty FellowDr. Christina Pfister is an Associate Professor of Education and Co-Coordinator for the Birth to Grade 6 Teacher Preparation Program at Siena University. She teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses for students who are preparing to become teachers and serves as an academic advisor. Dr. Pfister is an Association of Teacher Educators LaureATE (20+ years as a member) and she currently serves as Chair of the Honors & Awards Subcommittee. She is also the Immediate Past President of the New York State Association for Teacher Educators.
Dr. Pfister’s scholarship centers on the process of becoming a teacher including mentoring, teacher persistence, and the experiences of teachers across their careers. Her research agenda examines the voices and lived experiences of teachers from pre-service teacher candidates who are navigating student teaching to veteran educators facing evolving professional demands. As the Association of Teacher Educators Faculty Fellow for the Summer 2025, Dr. Pfister is developing the structure, processes, and long term vision for the ATE Faculty Fellows Program. Her work includes creating a scalable model for future fellows aligned with ATE’s mission and expanding collaborative opportunities between ATE, teacher educators, and their institutions.
